Bankruptcy Training for Notaries & Loan Signing Agents
You built a business on legal documents. Here's the next credential — one that pays per petition, not per stamp.
If you became a notary or loan signing agent, you already proved the important thing: you can build an independent, document-driven business — finding clients, handling legal paperwork precisely, and delivering on deadline. Bankruptcy petition drafting is the natural next rung on that ladder, with meaningfully higher pay per job.
Signing work rises and falls with refinance volume. Bankruptcy filings don't wait on interest rates — if anything, hard times mean more of them. Adding petition drafting gives your document business a second, counter-cyclical revenue stream that uses the same home office and the same professional network muscles you've already developed.
This training teaches you to draft court-ready Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions from scratch — no legal background needed — and certifies you as a Bankruptcy Petition Specialist™ so you can work remotely for bankruptcy attorneys nationwide.
Who This Training Is For
- ✓Loan signing agents whose volume dropped with refinance activity and who want a steadier document skill
- ✓Notaries looking for the next credential to grow their independent business
- ✓Mobile notaries who want work-from-home income instead of windshield time
- ✓Anyone who's already comfortable being the detail person in a legal transaction
No prior legal or bankruptcy experience is required. All materials are downloadable or accessed online — you can start training today.
How this compares to loan signing work
A signing appointment pays a flat fee for guiding borrowers through a fixed document package. Petition drafting is deeper work — you assemble the package itself from the client's financial records — and it's billed accordingly: petition drafters commonly charge several hundred dollars per petition. It's done entirely from home, on your schedule, for attorney clients who send repeat work.

We are a bankruptcy petition training organization and do not develop, sell, or provide bankruptcy petition preparation software.
For many years, our training programs have taught students how to draft bankruptcy petitions using the free downloadable demo version of Best Case Bankruptcy software by Stretto, one of the most widely used bankruptcy petition preparation platforms among bankruptcy law firms. We are not affiliated with Stretto and do not receive compensation from them.
Stretto now also offers a cloud-based version of Best Case Bankruptcy that runs through a web browser. While the cloud edition is convenient because it can run in a web browser on any computer operating system, it includes a limited free trial period, whereas the traditional desktop edition, which installs on a Windows computer (or can run on a Mac computer using software such as Parallels), continues to provide a demo environment for learning purposes for as long as it is installed.
We encourage students to use the desktop edition while completing our training courses so that they can practice drafting the forms, schedules, and other components of a bankruptcy petition in an environment similar to what many bankruptcy law firms use.
Later, when accepting paid work drafting bankruptcy petitions for attorneys, you will use the software that the attorney or law firm is licensed for and uses, which they will provide you access to.
While each major bankruptcy software platform takes a slightly different approach to completing the forms and schedules of a bankruptcy petition, they all complete the same standardized bankruptcy forms and schedules. Our training courses teach you the petition process itself — which applies across all bankruptcy software products.
